Stéphane Monard

Stéphane Monard was born and raised in Switzerland. As a child, he traveled without moving—eyes fixed on Ushuaïa Nature or wandering through magazines that spoke of distant worlds. Those images stirred in him a hunger for horizons, encounters, and the unknown.

Trained as a professional watchmaker, he learned precision, patience, and discipline—qualities that later shaped his photographic eye. In 2003, his first backpacking journey sparked the desire to capture life as he lived it. Five years later, he met Taz, his life and travel partner, and in 2018 they set sail, trading certainties for a life in motion.

For Stéphane, photography is storytelling that raises awareness. As a documentary photographer, he seeks the fragile balance between beauty and struggle, light and silence, presence and absence. Each image becomes a testimony—connecting what he witnesses with what he feels—and a way to see the world more deeply.

Title: 01 / Gathering Hope
Description: In the quiet stillness of the lake, she reaches for water lilies—fragile blooms that rise through darkness to meet the light. Her gesture becomes a quiet act of faith, a reminder that hope, like these flowers, always finds its way to the surface.
