Sewkhy Tan is a 22-year-old Cambodian artist. His art is versatile, vivid, playful, and often surreal or dark. It addresses subjects including mental health, living in a developing and rapidly-changing country, and a thousand other strange things that live rent-free in his mind. Sometimes it fuses traditional Cambodian techniques and topics with modern approaches, and at other times draws on his love of anime, fantasy and storytelling. While he is a skilled traditional artist and can sketch, draw and paint, he increasingly utilises digital techniques. His work has been exhibited in Phnom Penh and showcased internationally, featuring in Globe Soup's international art challenge and featuring on the forthcoming cover of Peatsmoke Literary Journal.
